Undead
Reanimated conquistadors — the jungle's rank and file. Most die to a single shot; the exceptions are listed with their multipliers.
| Creature | HP | Dmg taken | Behavior & tactics | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Undead | 60 | 1× | Reanimated conquistadors, common near the beaches. One musket round drops them. | |
| Berserk Undead | 20 | 1× | Fast and fragile — swings wildly, dies to anything. | |
| Brute Undead | 170 | 1.5× | The tanky one. Takes extra damage, has the health to spare. | |
| Hanged Undead | 180 | 3× | High HP but takes triple damage — aim carefully and it folds fast. | |
| Lamp Undead | 60 | 1× | Carries its own light. You'll see it coming; it also sees you. | |
| Lightning Undead | 60 | 1× | Electrical attacks. | |
| Tue Tue Undead | 40 | 1× | Its shriek echoes across the whole forest and wakes everything. Avoid rather than fight. | |
| Y'm-bhi | — | — | Fallen explorers reassembled as shambling dead — your own dead teammates can come back as these. Grabs crew members; a well-timed hit breaks the grab. | |
Otherworldly Horrors
Lovecraft's own menagerie, stitched in from across the mythos. Several of these cannot be killed at all — the HP column tells you which fights are actually fights.
| Creature | HP | Dmg taken | Behavior & tactics | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mi-Go | 60 | 1× | Mind control. Approaches from behind and separates prey from the group before it feeds. | |
| Deep One | 120 | 0.33× | Amphibious and relentless, with heavy damage resistance — 120 HP that plays like 360. | |
| Hound of Tindalos | 120 | 10× | Hunts whoever carries a moved treasure. Takes ten times normal damage — if you can land the shot before it lands on you. | |
| Crawling Canopy | 180 | 1× | The tree-cover horror. Isolates and marks prey; about three musket rounds in the demo. | |
| Prowler | 150 | — | Carries off lone explorers and cannot be killed — only driven back. Don't wander. | |
| Flesh Shambler | 10000 | — | A territorial giant that displaces space itself. That HP number is the game telling you to run. | |
| Formless Spawn | — | — | Shapeless and shapeshifting — spawn of Tsathoggua. | |
| Haunter of the Dark | — | — | Lives in shadow. Keep your lamp lit. | |
| Shoggoth Worm | — | — | A vast crawling mass. | |
Servants of K'n-yan
Agents of the underworld the expedition is digging toward. Both known servants take double damage — once you can tell them apart from your friends.
| Creature | HP | Dmg taken | Behavior & tactics | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Doppelganger | — | 2× | Infiltrates disguised as a teammate and turns the crew against itself. Takes double damage once unmasked. | |
| Transmuter | 120 | 2× | Bursts out of the ground under your feet. | |
Bosses
Named threats with no reliable numbers yet — still being measured in the 1.0 build. Treat every one as a run-ender.
| Creature | HP | Dmg taken | Behavior & tactics | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dark Young of Shub-Niggurath | — | — | The dark young of the Black Goat. Boss-tier; tactics still unmeasured pre-launch. | |
| El Buey | — | — | “The Ox.” Boss-tier. | |
| The Boulder | — | — | A moving hazard more than a fight. | |
Beasts
The jungle's mundane wildlife — mundane by local standards. One of them drains your sanity just by existing nearby.
| Creature | HP | Dmg taken | Behavior & tactics | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Huemul | — | — | A Chilean deer, and walking income: the meat sells for 80–120c and the hide for 60–90c. | |
| Bandurria | — | — | A daemon bird whose mere presence drains sanity. Shoot it from far away — 50 meters out is achievement range. | |
| Tyrano Horse | — | — | Spotted in the community codex; behavior undocumented. | |
| Wormy | — | — | Spotted in the community codex; behavior undocumented. | |
Reading the jungle
Enemy AI here doesn't charge. Creatures circle the crew, stalk at a distance and move through brush instead of open ground, so your first warning is usually movement in the leaves rather than a monster in your face. Three creatures deserve standing orders:
- Tue Tue Undead — its shriek wakes the whole forest. Killing it loudly costs more than it saves; walk away.
- Prowler — unkillable, and it takes people. It targets explorers who wander alone, which is the game telling you not to.
- Hound of Tindalos — it hunts whoever carries a moved treasure, and it takes ten times normal damage. Decide before it arrives who the bait is and who shoots.
And the grimmest rule: dead teammates don't always stay on your side. A fallen explorer can return as a Y'm-bhi — so revive fast with Ammonia Salts, or haul the body to the ox-wagon before the jungle claims it.
How enemies detect you
Detection runs on two separate senses — sight and hearing — and the ranges are wildly uneven, which is the whole reason stealth works. The community codex measured several of them off the 1.0 build:
- Prowler — sight just 8 m but hearing 18 m. It's functionally blind up close; noise is what draws it, so a lone, loud explorer is exactly its prey.
- Deep One — sight 45 m, hearing 40 m, and it only takes 0.33× damage. Long eyes, thick hide: engage on your terms or not at all.
- Crawling Canopy — sight 45 m. It reads as terrain until it moves, so that long sightline is easy to walk into blind.
The pattern for the rest of the bestiary is the same: keep noise discipline, break line of sight through brush, and never assume a creature that can't see you can't hear you. HP and damage multipliers above are demo-and-launch measured and re-checked against the community codex; we fill in the remaining sight/hearing ranges as they're confirmed.

What actually kills each of these — damage, ammo and rank locks.
Ammonia Salts, the crucifix and everything else that buys you a second.
Half of what you meet in the jungle isn't there. Telling the difference.

Bestiary questions
Which enemies can't be killed in The Mound?
The Prowler can only be driven back, never killed, and the Flesh Shambler's 10,000 HP makes it effectively unkillable — it's a territorial hazard to avoid. Boss HP is still being measured in the launch build.
What is the strongest enemy in the demo?
Of the measurable ones, the Deep One is the worst fight: 120 HP with a 0.33× damage multiplier, so it soaks roughly three times the bullets its health bar suggests — and it chases without giving up.
Why is a monster hunting only me?
If you picked up or moved a treasure, that's the Hound of Tindalos on your trail. It's extremely fragile (10× damage taken) if your crew is ready for it.
