Does it earn its slot?
You don't buy this one; it turns up in the field. At 40–60c the only real decision is whether the slot could hold something worth more — see the treasure values for what else competes for the space.
What a support slot is for
Support gear is what keeps a crew alive rather than what kills things. In a four-person expedition these are the slots you divide up: one person carries the revive, one carries the light, and nobody carries two of the same thing. A crew that all packed the same support item has wasted three slots.
The opportunity cost is the honest way to judge any of it. Your pack is the binding constraint, and the same slot could come home holding a Metal Idol worth 80–120 at the Basic tier and 560–840 at Legendary, or two bottles of wine at up to 720. At 40–60c, this item is not competing on resale — it earns its place through what it doesduring the run, or it doesn't earn it at all.

Food ration questions
What does the Food ration do in The Mound?
Restores health. Field-found rather than bought, and worth real coin if you can stand to carry it home instead of eating it.
How much is the Food ration worth?
It sells to the appraiser for 40–60c, and it can't be bought — you find it.
