Neither of the two databases we cross-check publishes damage or range figures for this piece. We leave those blank rather than fill them with an estimate — if you see a guide quoting exact numbers here, it invented them.

Carrying it

Melee is silent, never runs out, and works in every weather. It also has a backstab bonus and an overhead stab to the head that deals double damage — see the tips page. The cost is reach, and the fact that anything you hit is already close enough to hit you.

You cannot buy this one. Weapons turn up in the field as well as the shop — weapon crates hold a randomised piece — so this is free kit rather than a purchase decision.

Why the knives have no numbers

All ten knives in the game share a single published line: worth 1–2 coin, with no damage, durability, cost or rank column existing for them at all. That is not a gap in our research — it is how the game catalogues them. They sit in the same tier as the Spike Bayonet and the Training Sword: objects you find, not armament you choose.

The practical read: a knife finishes something already on the ground and cuts what needs cutting. Against anything upright, the cheapest real answer is an Aged Machete at 3 coin — 20 damage, no rank lock, and 15 tokens at the Anvil takes it to 22. There is no reason to fight with a knife once you have three coin.

Knives do differ in one way that matters to some players: they are the most visible piece of period kit your explorer carries, and the set spans a genuinely varied bit of 16th-century material culture — a sailor's rigging knife, a bollock dagger, a ceremonial khanjar. The Cthulhu Dagger is the Deluxe cosmetic in the family. Collect on taste; the numbers will not reward you either way.

Sailor's Knife questions

How much damage does the Sailor's Knife do in The Mound?

Neither database we cross-check publishes a damage figure for the Sailor's Knife. Rather than estimate one, we leave it blank — any guide quoting an exact number for this weapon is guessing.

How much does the Sailor's Knife cost?

It isn't sold in the shop aboard the Tempestad. It turns up in the field instead — weapon crates are the usual source.
