Does it earn its slot?
You don't buy this one; it turns up in the field. At 8–12c the only real decision is whether the slot could hold something worth more — see the treasure values for what else competes for the space.
What a field slot is for
Field items aren't shop purchases — they're things the jungle leaves lying around that turn out to be worth carrying. They compete for slots against treasure, which is the only comparison that matters.
The opportunity cost is the honest way to judge any of it. Your pack is the binding constraint, and the same slot could come home holding a Metal Idol worth 80–120 at the Basic tier and 560–840 at Legendary, or two bottles of wine at up to 720. At 8–12c, this item is not competing on resale — it earns its place through what it doesduring the run, or it doesn't earn it at all.

Firewood questions
What does the Firewood do in The Mound?
Gathered, not bought — chop it with a machete (the axe can't). Feeds camp fires, and it's worth more at the appraiser than a torch is.
How much is the Firewood worth?
It sells to the appraiser for 8–12c, and it can't be bought — you find it.
